MAR 011993 Docket No. 99901258 Mr. B. J. Gruner, Vice President Ram Forge & Steel, Inc.
P. O. Box 592 l
Navasota, TX 77863
Dear Mr. Gruner:
SUBJECT:
EVALUATION AND CONCLUSION REGARDING THE REPLIES TO THE NOTICE OF VIOLATION AND THE NOTICE OF NONCONFORMANCE (NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 99901258/92-01)
I am responding to Ram Forge & Steel, Inc.'s (Ram Forge's) February 1, 1993, replies to the Notice of Violation and Notice of Nonconformance which were issued by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on January 8, 1993, following an NRC inspection of Ram Forge's facility in Navasota, Texas.
The Notice of Violation identified Ram Forge procedure requirements and purchase orders which failed to comply with the requirements of Part 21 of Title ;0 of the Code of Federal Reoulations (10 CFR Part 21), and the Notice of Nonconformance identified certain Ram Forge activities which failed to comply with the requirements of Appendix B to 10 CFR Part 50.
Your replies to the Notice of Violation and Notice of Nonconformance and corrective action taken were determined to be adequate for all the Violations and Nonconformances identified.
However, Mr. L. L. Campbell of this office discussed with Mr. P. Craddock, Jr. of Ram Forge on February 19, 1993, the need for your corrective action to be applicable not only to ASME Section III fittings, but also to Non-ASME Section 111 fittings supplied in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR Part 21 and Appendix B to 10 CFR Part 50.
We will review the implementation of your corrective action to prevent recurrence, as described in your replies to the Notice of Violation and Notice of Nonconformance, during a future inspection to ensure that full compliance to 10 CFR Parts 21 and 50 has been achieved and will be maintained.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of 10 CFR, " Rules cf Practice," a copy of this letter will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
