The PDR has a professional stalf of technical information and documentation specialists. The i staff provides reference services; manages and operates an online Ilibliographic Retrieval System (IlRS) database; announces newly released documents; and monitors an y-- y I onsite contractor who copics documents and delivers them { to users for a fee. i The PDR collection consists of a variety of agency docu-ments, including NRC NUREG Reports, Weekly informa-tion Reports, transcripts of Commission meetings, existing and proposed regulations and amendments, material from NRC's licensing dockets and correspondence on technical, legal and policy matters. Certain items of immediate inter. i Office of the Secretary est, such as Press Releases and Meeting Notices are posted in the reading room. The collection is maintained in paper U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and microfiche files. Reference A.ssistance Technical reference librarians will help users by-defining search strategies for identifying documents, explaining how to request materials, e i locating documents in specific files, and e answering other pertinen questions about NRC docu-e ments. The librarians will also explain how to order copies of documents from the PDR copy senice contractor. Although staffing constraints prohibit the PDR staff from performing extensive research for users, the reference li-brarians will explain the arrangement of the stacks and how to use reference tools and document indexes so that users l can perform their own research. i l Document Requests Offsite users may order documents from the reference staff by calling (202) 634-3273, faxing a request to (202) 634-3343, or writing to the address on the back cover of this guide. A l reference librarian will verify each citation and, if requested, l retrieve the material and give the PDR copy senice contrac- .[ tor the order for copying the documents. Onsite users may place orders directly with the copy senice contractor. The l contractor will mail documents to the user or hold them for pickup.
