NRC Combined Inspection Nos. 50-317/93-06; 50-318/93-06

An announced safety inspection of the radiation protection program at your facility was
conducted by Messrs. J. Furia and L. Eckert of this office on March 1-5,1993. The
i
inspection findings were discussed with members of your staff at the conclusion of the
inspection on March 5,1993.
Areas examined during this inspection are important to health and safety and included the
'
radiation protection program. Areas inspected included your programs for: radiation safety
during normal and outage operations, radiological work control and housekeeping,
maintaining radiation exposures as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA), and assurance of
quality. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures
and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
Strong performance in the areas of radiological work control and dosimetry were noted.
ALARA deficiencies identified in previous insocctions have been addmssed by your staff,
however, the success of these corrective actions will be fully evaluated after the Unit 2
refueling outage has been completed.
