Attention:
Mr. Charles E. MacDonald Chief, Transportation Certification Branch Division of Fuel Cycle and Material Safety I
Dear Sir:
As a result of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Quality Assurance Audit which concluded with the exit meeting this morning, Nuclear Containers, Inc. has found that we need to make several changes and improvements with regard to our Quality Assurance Manual - OA-3 Rev. 0 - and the supporting Standard Operating Procedures.
Due to the importance of being in compliance with the requirements of 10 CFR 71, Subpart H and the urgency of lifting the scif-imposed Stop-Work Order, we will make the needed changes as described below:
Item #1 -
Nuclear Containers,Inc. will produce a completely revised Quality Assurance Manual - OA-3 Rev.1 - by March 17,1993 which will more completely sathfy the requirements in 10 CFR 71, Subpart H.
Item #2 -
Nuclear Containers,Inc. will complete approximately 22 procedures w hich are already in draft form. We expect we will need to produce several additional procedures to meet 10 CFR 71, Subpart H requirements. We intend to have all these procedures implemented by March 25,1993.
Item #3 -
Upon completion of items #1 arid #2, Nuclear Containers, Inc. will request NRC concurrence to discontinue the Stop-Work Order.
]
Quality Assurance is of primary importance to all of us at Nuclear Containers,Inc.and we are proud of our reputation for providing quality products. It is vital that the problems be resolved as quickly as possible and we respectfully request that our proposal and status be given priority.
