Additional information on Corrective Actions for Bulletin 91-01 Reportable l

Condition of May 21,1992 (NRC Report No. 23510) i

Reference:

Letter, LJ. Maas to US NRC Document Control Desk, " Completion cf Follow-up Corrective Actions for Bulletin 91-01 Reportable Condition of May 21,1992 (NRC Report No. 23510), February 16,1993 in the referenced letter, Siemens Power Corporation (SPC) reported the completion of all long term corrective actions associated with the subject Bulletin 91-01 reported condition.

Although the letter indicated tnat documentation supporting SPC's corrective actions had i

l been provided to Region V inspection personnel, the letter did not reiterate what the long-term corrective actions actually were. (All corrective actions, short-term and long-term, were l

listed in our original 30-day follow-up report of June 24,1992).

For the sake of completeness, provided below is the list of long-term corrective actions completed since our 30-day report of June 24,1992.

Update the SPC facility pre-fire plan to designate the areas housing the Nauta mixers and hammermills as water exclusion areas.

Provide sufficient dry chemical or high density foam to fight fires in these areas.

1 Interlock the Vacuumax powder transfer systems to shut down when the fire alarm sounds.

Form a task force which will then review and schedule the elimination of combustible plastic piping and panels in the water exclusion zones.

Performance of the above actions, in addition to those actions repor1ed as complete in the original 30-day followup report, completes SPC's response to the criticality suty condition documented in NRC Report No. 23510. If you have questions, please contact me on 509-375-8537.
