On 3/2/93 at 1450 hours0.0168 days <br />0.403 hours <br />0.0024 weeks <br />5.51725e-4 months <br />, the Motor Driven Fire Pump (MDFP) was administratively declared inoperable due to the lack of water leakage through the pump packing. The leakage is needed for seal cooling purposes. On 03/03/93 at 0445 hours0.00515 days <br />0.124 hours <br />7.357804e-4 weeks <br />1.693225e-4 months <br />, during operation of the Diesel Driven Fire Pump (DDFP), the diesel engine temperature increased l

and began to overheat. The diesel was immediately shutdown. Therefore, both the DDFP and the MDFP were inoperable simultaneously.

Actions Taken A backup water supply was established to satisfy the requirements specified in Tech Spac 3.14.A.3.a. A water tanker truck has been obtained to provide a backup water supply for the fire distribution system.

The DDFP overheating condition is currently being investigated.

Repairs will be implemented as necessary following the investigation. In addition, the MDFP packing is expected to be replaced on 03/03/93. Following satisfactory post maintenance testing, the DDFP and the MDFP will be retumed to service as soon as possible.
