Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 2 (TMI-2)

I Operating License No. DPR-73 Docket No. 50-320 Quarterly Dose Assessment Report Fourth Quarter 1992 Semi-Annual Radioactive Effluent Release Report

Dear Sir,

i I

The attached submittal includes: 1) the quarterly report of radiolegical releases and estimated doses for the Fourth Quarter 1992 in accordance with the TMI-2 Technical Specifications Appendix B Sceuon 5.6.1.c; and 2) the TMI-2 semi-annual radioactive effluent release report for the Third and Fourth Quarters 1992,in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.36a(a)(2).

A deviation from the sampling and analysis regime specified in the TMI-2 Appendix B Technical Specifications occurred during the reporting period. In particular, composite particulate filter samples for airborne discharges during November,1992, from the unit vent, the EPICOR Building, the Evaporator Building and the Waste Handling and Packaging Facility were misplaced by the vendor analytical tab.

For this report, the airborne discharges during November from these release points were assumed to be equal to the highest single month airborne discharges during the calendar year 1992.

C312-93-2.014 l

C000-93-2036 Page 2 The maximum hypothetical doses received by an individual from TMI-2 effluents for the latest reporting period is 0.0003 mrem whole body dose from liquid releases and 0.0061 mrem whole body dose from gaseous releases. These doses are each less than 0.04% of the Technical Specification limits and are approximately 12,000 times lower than the dose the average individual in the TMI area receives from natural background radiation during the same time period.

The reported maximum hypothetical doses are conservative overestimates of the actual offsite doses which are likely to occur.

Dose summaries and effluent releases for the previous quarters of the 1992 calendar year were submitted via GPU Nuclear letter C312-92-2041, dated May 28,1992, C312-92-2.070, dated September 10,1992 and C312-92-2085, dated November 30,1992.

Sincerely, l
