SUBJECT: COMBINED INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-352/93-02 AND 50-353/93-02
This letter transmits the results of the resident safety inspection by Messrs. T. Kenny and -
T. Easlick, from January 3 - February 6,1993, at the Limerick Generating Station,
Limerick, Pennsylvania. The inspection focused on the observation of activities important to
ensuring the public health and safety. Reviews of documents and interviews of plant
personnel were also performed. The results have been discussed with Mr. J. Doering of
your staff.
You will' note in Section 1.0 of this report the documentation of failures associated with the
emergency diesel generators (EDGs) at your facility. These events coupled with previous
EDG failures contribute to a significant number of failures that indicates an increasing trend
with which we are concerned. We do note, however, that ycur staff has recognized this
problem and is currently conducting an assessment of prior EDG failures to determine if
there are any common causes that can be identified. We will review the results of this
assessment and document them in a subsequent inspection report.
