SUBJECT:
NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-440/93003(DRS)
This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. K. Salehi of this
office on February 3 - 12, 1993.
The inspection included
a review of activities authorized for your Perry Nuclear' Power
Plant.
At the conclusion of the inspection, the findings were
discussed with those members of your staff identified.in the
enclosed report.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the
report.
This inspection examined your fuel failure experience,
and reviewed the corrective actions planned to improve. fuel
performance.
Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a.
selective examination of procedures, representative records, and
interviews of personnel.
In addition, a meeting was held at our
request, at the Region.III office in Glen Ellyn,-Illinois, on
February 10, 1993.
Duringlthe meeting, you and.GE Nuclear
presented your preliminary findings regarding initial root cause
analysis of the fuel failures, actions you took to mitigate the
consequences, and other activities for identifying potential root
'
causes.
No violations of NRC requirements Vere identified during the-
course of this inspection.
.In accordance with lo CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations,
a copy of this letter,'and the enclosed inspection report with
'
its enclosures will-be placed in the NRC Public Document. Room.
