Washington DC 20555 Gentlemen:
Special Report Revision In a Special Report dated December 29, 1989 (Lotter CPY-361-89), Fire Damper FD-311 was scheduled to be restored to operable status by May 31, 1990.
In order to replace the subject damper, a custom made fire damper must be obtained. Difficulties in qualifying a vendor to supply the component, and procurement delays, have resulted in a schedule delay for replacement of the fire damper. FD-311 will be restored to an operable condition within 8 weeks af ter delivery of the new damper.
In a Special Report dated December 21, 1989 (Letter CPY-348-89), Fire Dampers FD-90, FD-90A, and FD-139 were scheduled to be restored to an operable status by December 31, 1990. The ductwork that houses these dampers functions as a high energy line break (IIELB) barrier.
Consequently, these dampers must be replaced during a plant outage.
In addition, the complexity of the damper design necessitates the utilization of custom made fire dampers. These factars will delay the replacement of the firc dampers until the 1991 refueling cutage.
Sincerely, Gentral Manager Tro!an Nuclear Plant
