STAFF REQUIREMENTS - BRIEFING ON RECOMMENDED ACTION FOR SUBSTANDARD PARTS, 10:00 A.M.,
TUESDAY, MARCH 20, 1990, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)
The Commission
- was briefed by the NRC staff on the status of their actions on substandard parts.
The Commission urged the staff to continue notifications to the regulated industry, other appropriate organizations, such as the National Association of Manufacturers, and other government agencies when specific examples of substandard parts are identified and to continue to monitor industry initiatives to establish sys*cmo to detect misrepresented parts and thereby prevent their use in plants.
The Commission also requested the staff to report back to the Commission in about six months on this issue and industry's i
l actions to address the prebica.
This is in addition to an action, previously reques'.ed (4/11/90) in the SRM for SECY-90-076, wherein the staff was asked to, report back to the Commission -- following the June NUMARC Board of Directors meeting -- on the status of implementation of NUMARC's guidelines on general procurement practices, product l
acceptance, and performance-based supplier audits.
