.(a) Letter dated October 11, 1989 from R. Stols to T.E. Murley (b) Telephone Conference conducted on February 16, 1990 between'L. 01shan, et al.-(NRR) and W. Morgan, et al. (CECO) discussing proposed amendment.
Dr. Murley:
Reference (a) transmitted an application for amendment to Facility Operating Licenses DPR-29 and DPR-30, Appendix A Technical Specifications'.
The proposed Technical Specification amendment would allow two jet pump flow instruments to be inoperable. The Technical Specification change was initiated due to an inoperable jet pump ficw indication-on Unit 1.
During the Reference (b) telephone conference with members of your 1
Staff, it was agreed that Commonwealth Edison will notify the NRC of any future jet pump flow indication failures. Quad Cities Station will also conduct an evaluation of repair feasibility as a contingency should an additional jet pump instrument fail. The additional instrument line would be repaired at the next unit outage of sufficient length following the repair feasibility study, provided the evaluation showed that repair could reasonably
-be' accomplished with established technology.
