-By letter dated November 28, 1988 1 submitted proposed license amendments r
f for Facility Operating License NPF-9 and NPF-17 for McGuire Nuclear Station.
Units 1 and 2 respectively, and Facility Operating License NPF-35 and NPF-52 for Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 respectively. The proposed changes were to_ clarify the Technical Specifications (TS) governing the requirements of the McGuire and Catawba Safety Review Groups.
As a result of_ discussions with the NRC staff on_ February 12, 1990, we would like to amend our initial proposal with respect to the composition requirements for the Safety Review Groups at McGuire and Catawba. At this time we propose that the following criteria replace that of our previous
' submittal for TS 6.2.3.2, Composition:
The MSRG (or CSRG for Catawba) shall be composed of at least five, dedicated, full-time engineers located on site.
Each shall have either (1). A bachelor's degree in engineering or related science and at least 2 years professional level experience in his/her field, at least 1
-year of which experience shall be in the nuclear field; or, (2) At least 5 years of nuclear experience and hold or have held a Senior Reactor Operator license; or (3) At least 8 years of professional level experience in his/her field, at least 5 years of whic.h experience shall be in the nuclear field.
A minimum of 50% of these personnel shall have the qualifications specified in (1) above.
