Operating License No. DPR-73 Dochet No. 50-320 Quarterly Dose Assessment Report - Fourth Quarter 1989 Semi-Annual Radioactive Effluent Release Report

Dear Sirs:

The attached sutnittal includes:

1) the cuarterly report of radiological mleases and estimated doses for the Fourth Quarter 1989 in accordance with the THI-2 Technical Specifications Appendix B Section 5.6.1.c; and 2) the TMI-2 radiological effluent release report for the Third and Fourth Quarters 1989, in accordance with the reouirements of 10 CFR 50.36a(a)(2).

The maximum hypothetical doses received by any individual from TMI-2 effluents for the latest mporting period is 0.0002 mrem whole body dose from liouid releases and 0.0008 mrem bone cose from gaseous releases. These doses are each less than 0.01% of the Technical Specification limits and are 27,000 times lower than the dose the average individual in the TMI area receives from natural background radiation during the same time period. The reported maximum hypothetical doses are conservative overestimates of the actual off-site doses which are likely to occur.

Also included in this submittal is a minor revision to the Thira Quarter Dose Report table that was transmitted as Attachment 3 to GPU Nuclear letter 4410-89-L-0121 dated November 29, 1989. The change, included as Attachttent 6, was necessitated by a re-assessment of the SusoJehanna River flow for August 1989 which was used in the calculation of estimated dose from liould effluents. The estimated total body population dose from lio;id effluents was changed from 0.012 to 0.015 person-rem and the estimated bone population oose from liould effluents was changed from 0.049 to 0.058 person-rem. The other values reported remain unchanged.
