_7 SNtr/ps;&/'rf l E i l PROCEDURE FOR DETERMINATION OFl SAR DESIGN CURVES The laboratory tests on the soils at Clinton were performed I on three different types of samples (Dames & Moore Type U, l L ~ 3-in diameter pitcher samples, and 4-in high recovery core barrel samples.) The degree of disturbance that these sam-plcs were subjected to was, therefore, different dep'ending on the sampling techniques. With this in. mind, the FSAR-Design Curves were obtained by applying disturbance factors to the laboratory data depending on the sample type. The11aboratory data was later re-analyzed and normalized-with respect-to confining pressure, overconsolidation-ratio, and void ratio, and mean values for the shear degradation ~ j. curyps' wore obta1ned in the range. 001~to 1.0 percent. Com-- paring the mean laboratory test results with the FSAR design curves giveidisturbance factors on the order of 1.5 to 4.0,. ~ which is in, fair' agreement with this analysis. i 9 4 A._
