Gentlemen:

Reference (a) requested a change to the Calvert Cliffs Technical Specifications to increase the spent fuel storage capacity from 1760 assemblies to 1830 assemblies. As referenced in that letter, the NRC's Safety Evaluation dated 9/19/80 stated that the Calvert Cliffs spent fuel pool modifications had been reviewed (and approved) for storage of up to 1830 fuel assemblies except for the structure analysis, which was based on a capacity of 1760 assemblies.

The purpose of this letter is threefold: to submit a check covering the fee for this request; to provide a marked-up technicM specification page showing the specific change requested; and to cite those references where the structure analyses pertaining to both the pool and the racks may be found. Those analyses remain valid for this request as modified below.

Enclosed is BG&E check No. B075273 in the amount of $4,400.00 to cover the fee for this request as originally stated in Reference (a). This letter has been determined to constitute supplementary.information pertaining to a previous request, Reference (a),

. and, pursuant to 10CFR Part 170, no additional fee is required.

Attachment (1) is a composite marked-up page from Lthe Unit I and 2 Technical Specifications showing the requested change to paragraph 5.6.4.

References (b) through (f) contain specific.information concerning the structure analyses for.the spent fuel racks and the pool, and we request that you refer to those documents in conducting your, review of this application. We call your attention to the

. fact that the spent fuel racks are manufactured to a code other than the ASME - B & PV.

Code, subsection NF, as stated in the referenced submittals. This matter has been discussed extensively with the NRC staff and resolved as documented in Reference (g).~

If you have any questions or require additional information concerning this request, please contact the undersigned.

Very truly yours, i
