MEMORANDUM FOR: The File FROM:

R. Neal Moore Senior Lice'nsing Reviewer

SUBJECT:

FINDINGS RELATED TO THE IMPORT OF 25 MGS OF SNM FROM JAPAN (ISNM81021)

Mitsubishi International Corporation submitted an application on October 8,1981 requesting a license authorizing the import of five in-core detectors containing a total of 25 Milligrams of uranium enriched to 93.15% U-235.

The detectors are being returned because of their incompatability with the drive system in which they were intended for use.

Because of the physical form of the material, contained in a detector, and the small quantity, it is concluded that no credible accident would result in a significant environmental impact.

The staff finds the importation of these detectors will not be inimical to the Common defense and security or Constitute an undue risk to public hecith, safety or to the environment.
