SUtVMRY OF OCTOBER.29, 1981 MEETING BEGARDING OPERATING LICENSE REVIEW The staff met with applicant's representa,tives in_B.ethesda, Md.. to discuss the method for generating site specific seismic response spectra with 5 percent structural damping. A list of. attendees is enclosed.
Supplement No.1 to the Fermi 2 Safety Evaluation Report, Section ';.7.1, required the use of 5 percent structural. damping for equipment seismic qualification rather than the 7 percent structural damping initialqused by the applicant because the low level of stresses in the structures did not justify use of 7 percent structural damping.. The Standard Review Plan, Section 3.7.1, requires that a single time. history be used to generate response spectra for all damping. values.used in the analysis..
Applicant agreed to generate response spectra, for 5.p.ercent. structurpl...
damping and for 7 percent structural damping using the same time _ history..
Staff requested that a revision be made to the. Detroit Edison.,"Jupplementa.ry Seismic Evaluation Report," Revision 1, su,h,mi,t,t.ed July _14,19Q1 to incorporate the revised curves. The additional information is expected to_ be submitted in December 1981.
