Dear Mr. Chairman:
As you may know, many Connecticut residents are concerned about recent reports that radiation may be causing more rapid embrittlement than anticipated in the reactor vessel at the Connecticut Yankee nuclear power plant at Haddam Neck, Connect-icut.
I understand that the Commission has requested that North-east Utilities provide additional information on this matter in order that a more thorough analysis of the situation can be per-formed.
In light of the importance of assuring the safe opera-tion of nuclear reactors, I would like to urge the Nuclear Reg-ulatory Commission to comilete its evaluation of Northeast Util-ities' submission expeditiously.
In addition, I would appreciate your informing me of your findings on this matter as soon as they are available.
Thank you for your assistance in assuring the continued safe operation of nuclear p er-facilities in Connecticut and else-where.
