Dear Sir:

i Docket No. 50-289 Reactor Building Spray System This letter is in response to followup questions generated fromyour review of our September 3,1981 (LlL 149) letter. We have included as Attachment 1, a family of curves which represent the no failure and single failure case results for LOCA conditions which wilJ cause actuation of the RB Spray System.

You should note that the cases presented cover the system performance charac-teristics for large break LOCA conditions.

Small break LOCA's will not generate conditions in containment that will cause spray system actuation.

The analysis results presented are terminated at either the end of drawdown, or at the point where the systems have reached equilibriuu and the analysis was stopped. depicts the ranges of sump pH for various levels and concentrations, and the anticipated operating windows for the NaOH tank. The window also conferms to equistatic conditions with the BWST when the BWST is within its Technical Specification limits and will support the initial condition to achieve the results shown in Attachment 1.

Should you have any further questions, please let us know.

Sincerely, f

H. D. Iukill Director, TMI-l HDH:EGW:vj f Attachments cc:
