11:30 AM Mr. Fisher and myself (JANE LEE) were in the pasture assisting a cow in the delivery of her calf. Se cow was encountering birthing problems.

Se calf, which was making a r oper pre-sentation, was obviously larger than normal.

After much l

pulling the calf was deliverds weighing 150 lbs.

Se calf, (full-term) was unable to walk and just barely breathing.

I vigorously massa 6ed the lung area... pushed the tongue back j

into the mouth and worked to dry the calf off. Se mother was in no cordition to take care of her offspring.

After many shots of vitamins and selenium, the calf is now able to walk. (See treatment on page 6 --10-19-81.

Sunday Pelvic examination confirms a possible breach birth.

Dr. Weber out of town.

9:00 PM Dr. Weber arrived.

Tried for over an hour to turn calf.

All efforts unsuccessful.

10:00 FM Examination determined there was no longer a pulse in the calf.

It was decided to dissect the calf in order to save the mother.

We spent hours trying to drop the chain down between the pelvic &' leg, of the calf so we could amputate the legs.

Finally, after hours of work, we began to try and pull the calf.

But despite two men and one woman pulling,we could not budge that calf. After many hours, we took a meat hock... sunk it into the rear quarter of the calf... attached chains through the handle of the hook...

attached the other end of the chains to a winch... fastened the winch to a heavy pole sunk in concrete and ground that calf out of the cow.

We discovered after the birth that the cow had pushed and pushed until she pushed the hooves of the calf down through the uteruspenetrating the wall. The animal appeared to suffer from a constricted birth channel as well.
