4 RESPONSE TO IE BULLETIN 81-02 SUPPLEMENT FAILURE OF GATE TYPE VALVES TO CLOSE AGAINST DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE SURRY POWER STATION UNIT NOS. 1&2 NRC REQUEST 1.
Within 30 days of the issuance date of this bulletin supplement, ascertain whether any 1[- EMD manufactured motor-operated gate valves have been installed, or are maintained as spares for installation, in safety-related systems where they are required to close against a differential pressure.

If no valves, other than those reported in response to IE Bulletin 81-02, are identified, report this to be the case. No further action is required.
RESPONSE
A review has been completed of the 1[ gate valves that have been supplied directly or indirectly from 1[ EMD.
There are no valves, other than those reported in our response to IE Bulletin 81-02, that have a closing differential pressure requirement greater than the "as shipped" differential pressure capability. In 4
addition, any valve that will be used as a replacement will be qualified for the intended service.
ESTIMATE OF MAN HOURS Approximately 5 man-hours were expended on review and preparation of this report for Surry Power Station.
RESPONSE TO IE BULLETIN 81-02 SUPPLEMENT FAILURE OF GATE TYPE VALVE TO CLOSE AGAINST DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNIT NOS. 1&2 NRC REQUEST 1.
Within 30 days of the issuance date of this bulletin supplement, ascertain whether any }[ - EMD manufactured motor-operated gate valves have been installed, or are maintained as spares for installation, in safety-related systems where they are required to close against a differential pressure.

If no valves, other than those reported in responta to IE Bulletin 81-02, are identified, report this to be the case. No further action is required.
RESPONSE
There are no 1[ - EMD manufactured motor-operated gate valves installed in North Anna Unit 1 that are within the scope of this Bulletin.
There are three (3) valves subject to this Bulletin installed in North Anna Unit 2.
These valves are MOV-2536 (type 3GM88FNH),
MOV-2373 (type 3 GM88FNB), and MOV-2289B (type 3GM99). All of these valves were installed as replacements for valves originally obtained from vendors other than Westinghouse-EMD, and were all discussed in the Vepco response to IE Bulletin 81-02.
Therefore, no further action is required.
ESTIMATE OF MANHOURS Approximately 6 man-hours were expended on review and preparation of this report for North Anna Power Station.
