LaSalle County Station Units 1 an, 3t ASCO Solenoid Valve Qualification b 10 CFR 50.55(e), Final Re, ort No. 81-09 NRC Docket Nos. 50-373/374
Dear Mr. Keppler:
Commonwealth Edison Company notified your office on October 7,
1981, of a deficiency in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55(e).
Based on information received from ACF Industries, W-K-M Valve Division, thirty-six (36) unqualified solenoid valves were delivered to and installed at LaSalle County Station, Units 1 and 2 (see attached).
Tnis letter fulfills the 30 day reporting requirement of 10 CFR 50.55(e).
This deficiency occurred through unclear information on the Valve Data Sheets supplied to W-K-M which resulted in a significant deviation from performance specifications.
We have found it to be an isolated occurrence and we will replace all of the unqualified l
valves with aualified ones.
The qualified valves for Unit I are on site and will be installed prior to fuel load.
The qualified valves for Unit 2 will be installed upon delivery.
