Dear Louis J. Carter:

I have been a resident of Westchester County and neighbor of Indian Point for the-past several years.

I am one of the thousands of people in the Westchester and New York metropolitan areas whose life is threatened daily by Indian Point's continued intermittent, un-reliable and unsafe operation.

I for one want to see Indian Point shut down forever and replaced with a more sensible, economical, efficient and safe means of producing energy.

I am pleased that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has finally appointed a board to hear the issues raised by the Union of Concerned Scientists.

The reexamination of Indian Point's operating license is something that has been desperately needed for a few years now.

In order to ensure that these hearings are relatively fair, there must ~be public and evidentiary hearings held in the vicinity of the plant, with evening sessions.

The time and place the hearings are to occur must also be widely publicized.

I am hoping that you insist that these conditions be met before the hearings begin.

Thousands of us have been living with the imminent dangers of Indian Point for too long now.

Indian Point must be shut down before it is too late.

Sincerely, Pamela Fletcher N,y o&
