J W Cook letter to J G Keppler, Same Subject,

Serial 120h7, dated July 16, 1981 This letter is a final 50 55(e) report concernin6 operation of the reactor cavity cooling system.

In the referenced letter, Consumers Power documented a reportable condition with regard to the operation of the system and maintenance of concrete temperatures within allowable limits.

It has been determined that the plant could withstand one or more cycles of a loss of the cavity cooling system without any detrimental effects on the safety of the plant.

Since one fan is necessary to maintain the concrete temperatures well below the maximum allowable, we will modify our operating procedure for the system to requi re at least one fan in s.rvice during normal plant operation.

We believe the above provluws the recessary information to close this 50.55(e) item.
