AC-HL-AE-526 SRANCH Mr. Robert L. Tedesco Assistant Director for.icensing U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555
Dear Mr. Tedesco:
Allens Creek Nuclear Ger -ating Station Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-466 This letter responds to your request of September 15, 1981, regarding the it,ue of anticipated transients without scram (ATWS).
douston Lighting and Power Company ha.c previcusly committed, in the testimony of Mr. C. G. Robertson before the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board (ASLB), to not preclude the incor-poration of any of the design modifications included in NUREG-0460, Vol. 4 and to incorporate in the design of Allens Creek the eventual resolution of the ATWS issue reached with the NRC.
A review of the Allens Creek design has identified no constraints in the areas of plant layout, diesel capacity, and seismic structures, to the ability to incorporate design modifications up to and in-cluding those delineated in TABLE 1 of NUREG-0460 Vol. 4 This infonnation was discussed with Messrs, Moon, Minners, and Hodges of the NRC staff on September 18, 1981.
Very truly yours,
.d. v/
