Dear Mr. Eisenhut:

/

Reference:

1.

Letter from T. Dente (BWR Owners' Group) to D. G. Eisenhut (NRC),

" Transmittal of Valve Operability Test Report from Generic BWR Safety Relief Valve Test Program", dated September 25, 1981.

2.

Letter from Harry Tauber (Dettuit Edison) to D. G. Eisenhut (NRC),

" Preliminary Safety / Relief Valve (S/RV) Operability Test Results for Fermi 2 Plant", EF2-53,871, dated July 1, 1981.

Subject:

Enrico Fermi Atomic Power Plant, Unit 2 NRC Docket No. 50-341 Transmittal of Safety / Relief Valve (S/RV)

Op rability Test Report for Fermi 2 In response to NUREG-0737 Item II.D.1, this letter provides the final test results which demonstrate the operational adequacy of the S/RVs for the Fermi 2 plant.

In addition, the adequacy of the S/RV discharge piping and supports has also been demonstrated.

These final test resulta are contained in NEDE-24988-P,

" Analysis of Generic BWR Safety / Relief Valve Opera-gyl bility Test Results" which was submitted to the NRC via Reference 1.

Detroit Edison is a participant in the BWR Owners Group generic S/RV operability test program.

' Mr. D. G.'Eisenhut October 19, 1981 EF21-55,069 Page-2 The Fermi-2 plant employs'the two-stage, Target _ Rock, 6R10 type of S/RV.

The applicability of the generic test.results to this plant's S/RVs has already been demonstrated in Reference 2.

- Detroit Edison has reviewed the test report and deter-mined -that the. operational adequacytof the S/RVs and thefpiping and' supports 1 or the. Fermi 2 plant has been f

' demonstrated:for the conditions defined-in Item II.D.1.

The submittal of NEDE-24988-P and this letter satisfies

- the October-1, 1981 and January 1, 1982 submittal-requirements of Item II.D.1 and completes. Detroit Edison's efforts on this item.

Sincerely,
