P.O. Box 293 Arcata, Ca. 95521 Joseph Hendrie, Gairman U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Comission Washington, D.C.
20555 Mr. Hendrie, Enclosed is a copy of a letter sent to the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board of the Nuclear Regulatory Comission. We of the Redwood Alliance are deeply concerned about the lack of resolve shown by the staff of the N.R.C. regarding the withdrawl of P.G.& E.'s license for the Humboldt Bay Nuclear reactor.
P.G.& E. has not yet adequately respcnded to the order given by the N.R.C. to provide costs and timetables 1
for either decomissioning or plant revisions. The Redwood Alliance will not allow-the N.R.C. to evade their responsibility to the public in this matter. We expect a forthright and timely response frcxn the A.S.L.B. to P.G.& E. 's stalling on the decomissioning issue. We trust you can (and hopefully will) use your influence to speed the decision by the A.S.L.B. regarding this matter. The public will be best served by a prompt and efficient review of the pressing issues regarding nuclear deccanissioning and this case in point (Humboldt Bay Unit #3) will test the rerolve ofathe Nuclear Regulatory Comission. Thank you for your attention to this most important matter.
