SUBJECT:
MATERIALS INSPECTION OF UNITEC, INC.
An inspection was conducted on September 1,1981, of Unitec, Inc.,
License No. 5-15863-01E. This inspection covered the requirements of 10 CFR Part 30 and 10 CFR Part 32, since this is a distribution license.
Although the licensee complies'with NRC requirements, I idcntified some problems with respect to their possession and manufacture of byproduct materials for distribution which fall under State of Colorado licensing requirements. These areas were (1) personnel monitoring devices have not been provided since October 29, 1980, and (2) health physics instruments which require annual calibration have not been calibrated since May 20, 1980.
Since this is a Colorado licensee, the State of Colorado will be asked to take a look at this licensee's requirements.
