Reactor Coolant Pump Trip Alternative Study

Dear Sir:

Maine Yankee committed via Reference (b) to submit a reactor coolant pump trip alternative study in response to Action Plan Item II.K.3.5 by October 15, 1981.

In light of other action plan items requiring revision of the codes to be used in performance of this study, (II.K.3.30, II.K.3.31) and the schedule for completion of those action item, the response to item II.K.3.5 has been rescheduled. The study will be submitted by May 3, 1982.

The study will utilize best estimate engineering methods cased upon the revised LOCA evaluation models developed pursuant to action plan item II.K.3.30.

We have discussed the scope and schedule of this study with Dr. Brian Sheron of your staff.
