License 04-16948-ole ORDER OF REVOCATION OF LICENSE I

Chris Bock Instruments, 2321 Washington Blvd., Marina Del Rey, California 90291

("the licensee") is the holder of Byproduct Material License 04-16948-01E("the license") issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Comission ("the Comission"). The license authorizes the distribution of byproduct material under certain conditions specified therein This license was originally issued on June 30, 1978.

The present expiration date of the license is July 31, 1983.

II On February 27, 1981, the licensee's activities authorized by License 04-16948-ole and located at 2321 Washington Blvd., Marina Del Rey, California, were inspected by a representative (s) of the NRC Office of Inspection and Enforcement for health and safety purposes. On May 6,1981, the Comission sent Invoice 0743N to the licensee requesting payment within 30 days of the inspection fee of $390 required by 10 CFR 170 of the Comission's regulations.

A second notice of payment due, together with a Notice of Violation, was sent to the licensee on June 6, 1981.

On June 25, 1981 the Comission responded to the licensee's letter clated Me 2, 1981.

A final notice of payment due was sent to the licensee on July 6, 1981.

. By letter dated July 10, 1981, the licensee expressed an interest in having his license revoked for non-payment of fees.

The fee required by Part 170 was not paid by the licensee. As a consequence, on July 30, 1981, the Commission issued an Order to Show Cause ("the Order"), directing the licensee to show cause why the license should not be revoked permanently.

The Order afforded the licensee an opportunity to file a written answer thereto within 20 days of the date of receipt of the Order and stated that upon the licensee's failure to file an answer within the specified time, the Director of Administration or the Chief, License Fee Management Branch, Office o? Administration, would issue a subsequent Order, without further notice, permanently revoking the license.

The Order was returned unclaimed by the Postmaster.

III Accordingly, in view of the licensee's failure to re.,ond to the allegations specified in the Order, on the basis of the violations alleged therein and, pursuant to the Commission's " Rules of Practice" in 10 CFR Part 2, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT:

Byproduct Material License 04-16948-ole is revoked permanently; 2.

The licensee shall dispose of any radioactive material acquired or possessed under the authority of License 04-16948-ole within 10 days from the date of this Order; and l

The licensee shall notify the Chief, License Fee Management Branch, Office of Administration, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, l'

Washington, D.C. 20555, of the disposition of any licensed material which may have been possessed on the date of this Order under authority of License 04-16948-01E within 5 days after disposal of the material.
