F SC-1.15A:1 SC-1.15A COMMUNICATIONS' EQUIPMENT CHECK'
1.0 PURPOSE
1.1 The equipment needed to provide conuunications between the on-site emergency centers and to the of f-site authorities must be maintained operational.
In order to verif:* their operability, periodic testing of the various equipment is necessary.
This procedure provides s uch a tes t schedule.

3.0 INSTRUCTIONS
3.0.1 Communications equipment will be checked regularly by the HP -Section -
with other emergency equipment checks (SC-1.15).
3.0.2 Make arrangements as necessary for an individual at the other end of the line beinr, checked.
3.1 TECHNICAL SUPPORT CENTER 3.1.1 Intercom System D - MONTHLY 3.1.1.1 Turn up volume - underneath unit.
3.1.1.2 Call Control Room (MC3) and have them return a call, d
3.1.1.3 Page Auxiliary 0perators Office and have them return a call.
3.1.2 Portable Radios - MONTHI.Y.

-Turn on eacn. radio and conduct operability -test with Security (CAS).
(6 radios in the TSC) 3.1.2.2 Security will sign off with call letters KYJ-576.

3.2.2 Check Intercom "A" for proper two-way communication.
3.2.3 Check Intercom "D" for. proper two-way e nunication to and from Technical Support Center.
3.2.4 HP Network Phone - QUARTERLY. Dial another station to verify operability of the system.
Lift receiver of NRC Red phone for communications check.
3.2.5 Phone-Check 3.2.5.1 From extension 331 call 280 - TSC.
3.2.5.2 From extension 332 call 281 - TSC.
4 3.2.5.3 Fren extension 333 call 207 - HP at Survey Center.
3.2.5.4 From Ontario line 524-6711 call 524-4984 and 524-4973 at TSC.
3.2.6 Radios - MONTHLY 3.2.6.1 Turn on each portable radio (4) and conduct operability test with Security (CAS).
3.2.6.2 Verify per Radio Log that base station has been checked within las t 30 days, i
3.2.7-QUARTERLY - Call Wayne County (9-1-946-4878),- Monroe County (71-9-473-0710), and'New York State (518/457-2200)- to verify emumunications link.

.3.2.8 MONTHLY - Call National Weather-Service, Rochester Of fice (716-323-7633) and Buf f alo Of fice (716-63 2-2223) to verify conmunications link.
3.3 ALTERNATE SURVEY CENTER (Station 13A) - QUARTERLY 3.3.1 Use proper safety precautions when inspecting Station 13A.
Hard hat and safety glasses are required. Obtain sub-s tation key.. Keep gate locked while you are in the station.
Notify Control Room either before or after you enter the station.
NOTE:
Light switch will defeat the local audio alarm.
3.3.2 Verify communications' with TSC thru Intercom "D" (In left drawer of the desk).
3.3.3 Verify. radio operation thru contact with " Security". Microphone is in typewriter portion of desk.
Depress switch to transmit.
NOTE:
Base radio must be on at all times.
3.3.4 Verify GAI-tronics syst em is operat ional.
3.3.5 Using Ontario line - 524-3361 - call 524-4446 for operational check.
3.3.6 Notify Control Room, using phone 202, that you are leaving the station.
Be sure gate is locked behind you.
3.4 OTHER SYSTEMS 3.4.1 Ginna Station Dimension Phone Sys tem is verified operable thru everyday use.
3.4.2 Dimension PA System is verified thru daily use.
3.4.3
- GAI-tronics system is in t sily use and thereby verified operable.
3.4.4' Lines to Rochester and Ontario are used daily thereby verifying ope rab ili ty.
3.5 Control Room 3.5.1 verify operability of NRC Red Phone - QUARTERLY

Any missing or -inoperable equipment should be noted on the ins pection log of SC-1.15 and the Supe rvisor of Health Phys ics so advised.

. PLANT INTERCOM SYSTEMS:
There are ' four Intercom Systems available 'for communication b'etween emergency.
centers. Each of these is separate and distinct from the -. others by hardwire -
circuitry.
System A - Contro1ERoom to Emergency Survey Center.
Sys tem B -' GAI-tronics System which can also be accessed by the Dimension Phone' System.
System C - Information Center' of fice to outside of structure, to. auditorium, to Emergency Survey Center or any combination therof.
_ System D - Technical Support Center to-Control Room, tol Emergency Center, to Emergency Operations Center, to Alternate -Survey Center. to the Information Center or return to TSC from any of these.
The master control' is in the Technical Support Center.
