BOSTON EDISON CGMPANY E'

PILGRIM NUCLEAR POWER STATION Summary of Operations for September ', 1981 On September 1, the unit was operating at 97% and trimming power for main condenser delta temperature, Power was reduced to 50% for a backwash of the main condenser and scram testing of CRD 34-51.

Power was returned to 100% and "B" RECCW heat exchanger inspection completed and system returned to service on September 2, 1981. On September 3, 5, 7, 10, 13, 16 and 23 power had to be reduced to 50% to backwash the main condenser because of mussel fouling.

On September 9, CRD 34-51 could not be moved with normal drive pressure during the weekly exercise. CRD 34-51 was scrammed and electrically dis-armed in accordance with Technical Specification 4.3.A.2 and symetrical rods inserted. On September 16, after receiving shutdown margin verification with CRD 34-51 full.out, CRD 34-51 and its symetrical rods were withdrawn to the full out position and CRD 34-51 was electrically disarmed.

On September 14, "B" RBCCW heat exchanger was taken out of service for inspection and testing.

It was returned to service on September 15, and again removed from service on September 19, because of concerns on the baffle plates. Repairs were made to the baffle plates and the heat exchanger returned to service on September 21, 1981.

On September 17, with all rods out, coast-down commenced and the unit was-removed from service at 0046 hours5.324074e-4 days
0.0128 hours
7.60582e-5 weeks
1.7503e-5 months
on September 26, 1981 for refueling outage No. V.
