Dear Mr. Miller:
Clinton Power Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-461 Per recent discussions between Mr. John Stang and our D. W.
Wilson, the following information is provided:
1.
The design of the Halon fire suppression system in the control room complies with NEDO 10466 Rev. 2.
2.
The insulator on HVAC duct work is either Johns-Manville stock number 815 or Owens Corning stock number 704.
Both manufacturers state that their insulation meets the 25 flame spread and the 50 smoke development requirements.
3.
The Clinton Fire Hazards Analysis Report currently states that some steel columns in the walls of the cable spreading room are exposed.
These steel columns will have a fire resistive covering so that the walls will have a three hour rating.
4.
All fire protection seals for all mechanical and electrical penetration configurations have been tested to ASTME-119 or IEEE 634 requirements whichever standard has the most stringent requirements for that particular application.
All fire endurance tests are a minimal three hour duration.
The test reports are available at the Clinton Power Station for NRC review.
Sincerely,
/
Ad G. E. Wuller Supervisor - Licensing Nuclear Station Engineering GEW/em y3
