Material Control & Accounting licensing Branch Gentlemen:
Combustion Engineering's Windsor site held their semi-annual physical inventory on June 24, 1981 as required.
Preliminary results of the inventory indicate that there are no significant losses or diversions of material.
However, all of the conditions for the inventory as required by 10 CFR 70.51(e)(4)(i) will not be met in the 30-day period ending July 24, 1981. A data processing soft-ware problem has caused a delay in posting many of the process transactions on-to the computer data base. As a result, the actual LEID and BPID will not be computed by the required completion date. The problem is currently being cor-rected, and the reconciling of the books will commence upon resolution.
He therefore request a 10-day extension of the requirement; listed in 10 CFR 70.51(e)(4)(i). We feel that this extension will not decrease the effective-ness of the material control and accounting program at Combustion Engineering, and that the LEID and BPID calculations will be accomplished within this time frame.
