PROCEDURE 1.
In the event of a fi re and at the request of tne Station Director, Shift Engineer or Fire Chief or as deemed necessary ny the Fire Marshal, the Fire Marshal performs the following:
a.
Provide guidance, direction ana information to the Fire Chief / Fire Brigade.
o.
Consult with the Fire Cnief concerning the oest methods and equipment to extinguish the fire.

Consult with the Off-Site Fire Department Senior Officer concerning the best methods ano equipment to extinguish tne fire.
d.
Provide assistance to the Fire Chief, Snift Engineer, Off-Site Fire Dept, etc. as deemed necessary during the fi re ana af ter the fire.
e.
Perform other functions necessary during a fire.
2.
Investigate each fire, evaluate prevention recommendations. and make aaditional recommendations as appropriate (see Reference 1).

FIRE CHIEF (CESIGNATED SHIFT FOREMAN)
A.
PURPOSE Tne puroose of this procedure is to describe tre duties and responsibilities of the Fire Chief in tne event of a fire.
B.

DREREQUISITES 1.
The designated Shift Foreman will function as Fire Chief, unless otnerwise specified oy the Snift Engineer.
D.
P3fCAUTIONS 1.
None.
E.
LIMITATIONS AND ACTICNS 1.
The Fire Cnief has the responsibility for the coordination of fire fi gnting ef forts and the deoloyment of f i re f i gnt ing personnel at tne fi re location; the Fire Brigade as well as Fire Companies No. I and No. 2 will receive direction from the Fire Chief.
2.
Upon locating and verifying the fire, the Fire Cnief will request Security to de-activate the computer controlled coors that provide access to the fire.
3.
The Station Fire Marshal shall be notified i mmed i a tel y of fires of major proportion, fires invciving large loss of equipment and any fire requiring the Off Site Fire Department.
For fires other than those accve it is at the discretion of tne Shift Engineer E

whetner to immediately notify the fire marshal or wait until the fire marshal is on site.
In any case, the fire marsnal shoula De notified as E
soon as feasible for fire reporting purposes.
F.
PRCCEDURE II 1.
Upon notification of a fire, the Fire Chief has tne following duties ana responsibilities:
a.
Proceed to the fire location with protective clothing and communications equipment.
D.
Coordinate preparatory efforts.
c.
Assume leadership of the Fire Brigade.
d.
Direct fire fignting personnel efforts (actions of personnel, deployment of equipment, use of equipment, methods to De used, direction of I
fire attack, etc).
e.
Evaluate the severity of the situation and the need for additional assistance.
1)
If need for the assistance of Fire Company No. L is expected, contact the Snift Engineer who will dispatch the requested manpower to tne designated location.
30lg Once on the scene, Fire Company No. I will function under the direction of Fire Officer No. I who reports to tne Fire Chief.
2)
Request the Off-Site Fire Department (Fire Comp. 02).
If tne need for the assistance of Fire Company No. 2 (Off-Site Fire Department) is anticipated:
a)
Notify the Shift Engineer immediately.
o)
Provide the Snift Engineer with as '.

Work in conjunction with the Off-Site Fire Department to extinguish the fire.

Keep Shift Engineer apprised of the need for.
additional nack-up (such as fire-fighting, medical, Rad-Protection, etc.).

Perform other duties as necessary to extinguish the fire anc place tne fire area in a safe condition.

Request tne Station Fire Marshal De notified of the fire and its status.

Request guidance, direction or information from the Station Fire Marsnal.

Consult with the Station Fire Marshal as to the best methods, techniques, and equipment to extinguisn the fire.

Upon issuing the "All Clear", the Fire Chief will request Security to return the involved computer I

Ensure all equipment used is returned to its cesignated E
location in working order (roll hose, replace nose.

PROCEDURE 1.
Upon initial notification of a fire, Fire Officer No. I has the following duties and responsioilities:
a.
Proceed to the Mechanical Maintenance Shop and assume leadership of Fire Company No.
1.
b.
Account for Fire Company No. I personnel as a
they assemole in the Shop and appraise Shift Engineer or Fire Chief of Fire Company No. I status (i.e. availaole manpower).
c.
Await further instruction concerning Fire Brigade's need for assistance.
2.
When instructed oy the Shift Engineer or Fire Chief to provide support for the Fire Brigade, Fire Officer No. 1:
a.
Directs Fire Company No. I to proceea to tne cesignated location.
3 Ensures that Fire Company No. 1 perscnnel are equipped with proper scfety ano fire-fighting equipment and clothing.
c.
Assists Fire Chief as requested.

The Fire Brigade is comprised of personnel as specified in Reference 1, ano snail not include tnree members of the minimum snift crew necessary for safe snutcown of tne unit or any personnel required for other essenti al functions during a lI fire.

Fire Brigade members snall nave completed the on-site initial Fire Brigace Training prograrr,'inclucing E
use of fire-fighting equipment, fire-fignting techniques, and the proper use of the self-contained Dreathing apparatus as outlined in the CECO Nuclear Fire Protection Training Program.

PRECAUTIONS 1.
If ouring the course of fignting the fire the individual Brigade memoer experiences severe pnysical ciscomfort (as nausea, cramps, Dlacking out, ci f ficul ty I

PMOCEDURE 1.
Sequence of actions to De followed oy Fire Brigade members upon notification of a fire.

Upon i n i t i al notification (via the emergency siren and tne subsequent PA system announcement of fire location) proceed immediately to nearest fire fighting equipment location and pick uo protective clothing and fire fighting equipment.

Proceed to the announcea fire locatico and receive instruction from the Fire Cnief concerning methon to be followed in extinguishing fire.
