The release la geestian occured during a routine het cell opening of tus reacter irradiated capsules containing a calculated = 2X15 Ci amount of clemental S-35.
Based en available date, it appeared that mainly gaseous 3
5-35 uns released during the actual capsule opening and not during any of the chemical processlag that followed.
Allpersonnelihmelvedintheprocessweremonitoredforthepossible ingestation of 5-35, and all were found to he weil below regulatory limits.
i Carrective actions to prevent a recurrence have already been taken and implemented. A box uns designed, to open capsules in, d ich allows for the trapping and filtration of all==hanist air before release to the environment occurs. This was proven to be a viable approach by sock runs and one test capsule opening. Daring this test capsule opening, all measurable releasm1 5-35 uns trapped as requirvel.
