Dear Professor von Zellen:
The NRC Staff has received your October 11, 1981 response to the NRC Staff First Request for the Production of Documents from Intervenors DAARE/ SAFE.
It is our understanding from this response that DAARE/ SAFE either does not have any docunents in its possession that fall within the scope of the request or has not yet identified any such documents.
In the spirit of informal discovery encouraged by the Licensing Board in its l'enorandum and Order of August 18, 1981, the NRC Staff requests that, when DAARE/ SAFE does identify or possess any documents that fall within the scope of the Staff request, DAARE/ SAFE make such documents-immediately available even beyond the November 1,1981 deadline for the completion of discovery.
If the above understanding of the DAARE/ SAFE response is inaccurate or DAARE/ SAFE does not agree to the present request, please notify me inmediately upon receipt of this letter at (301) 492-7474.
In that event, the Staff will be compelled to seek appropriate relief from the Licensing Board.
