Dear Sir:
The following contains the response to your letter of December 22, 1980, Sections 2.2 and 2.3:
1 Responseto2.p.3d A verification program dealing with the requirements referenced in 2.2.3d is in progress.
Due to the time required to develop specific questions on lift rigs, and the delay by original suppliers in responding to our inquiries, we l
will be unable to complete our verification program as originally scheduled.
3e date of completion of this item is January 1,1982.
Response to 2.2.3f
-gp A comparison of the key differences between the codes and standards is listed 5
I[l on the attached matrix, which also indicates the BECo arrangement of the crane.
The comparison of the codes show they are very similar.
In many cases, the requirements of the earlier version of the code are more stringent. The dif-ferences between the BEco design and the codes do not in any way affect the i
safe handling or operation of the crane.
l l
Response to 2.2.4 An evaluation program studying the requirements referenced in 2.2.4 is still in progress. Due to the complexity of the task and for the reasons stated in l

Co; TON EDICON COMPANY Mr. Darrell G. Eisenhut, Director October 8,1981 Page 2 2.2.3d, we regret that the evaluation was not completed in time for this response. The completion date for this item is January 1,1982.
Response to 2.3 The required information, such as structural analysis of impact zones, is in prog ress.
Due to the complexity of these analyses, and the number of load /
target combinations, we are requesting an extension to complete this part of the report. We believe, based on the results of our crane analysis in response to section 2.2.3f, the information supplied to you in Reference (b), and the Reactor Building Crane's past safe operating record, that the granting of this extension will in no way compromise safety.
The completion date for this item is April 1,1982.
If you should require any additional information concerning this matter, please contact us.
Very truly yours, P
