SUMMARY
OF OPERATING EXPT.RIENCE OPERATION:
The plant entered the month of September operating at full power (100%).
On September 7, power was reduced due to condenser backpressure for 6.5 hours5.787037e-5 days <br />0.00139 hours <br />8.267196e-6 weeks <br />1.9025e-6 months <br />.
Lowest power reached was 86.3% (948 MWe). The following day, September 8, power was lowered to 98% for approximately six hours to maintain Axial Flux Difference within the band.
Condenser backpressure required a power reduction to 91% for approximately seven hours on September 15.
On September 27, power was reduced to 70% to remove the South Main Feed Pamp from service fer =aintenance.
Fourteen hours later, the plant was operating at 100% again and remained so for the duration of"Ehe month.
MAJOR SAFETY-RELATED MAINTENANCE:
West Auxiliary Feedwater Pump (*ierly Turbine) steam admission valves (4) adjusted after failing to fully open.
Reset the containment high pressure safety injection bistables from 5 psig to 3.5 psig.
Isolated and repaired the South Safety Injection Pump discharge relief valve.
Replaced the "B" Train control room eucrgency ventilatios preheat coil.
Work began on removing wall portions around a preferred AC ous, the Electro Hydraulic Control Cabinet and Rod Drive Motor Generator sets to improve ventilation until a chiller modification is completed.
Vendor was on sf e to perform a rundown test and inspect the turbocharger on the West engine of the east emergency liesel generator set.
Replaced one jacket water beater element in the west engine of the west emergency diesel generator set.
Replaced the thrust bearing wear detector module and c capacitor in the 24VDC power supply to the woodard governor on the south main feedwater pump.
MISCELLANEOUS MAINTENANCE:
Oil leak repaired on eas. wante gas compri lor.
Ecdy to bonnet leak repaired on boric acid blender to holdup tank valve.
Continued work on post-accident sampling sy stem.
Continued work outside containment on reactor vessel level indication system.
Packing leak on Jockey fire pump repaired.
RHR to CVCS letdown flange leak rcpaired.
Seal leakage on north boron injection tank recire pump repaired.
Hydraulic fluid leak on "B" 14" Whittaker Main Feedwater Isolation Valve repaired.

MISCELLANEOUS:
A Mt. St. Helens volcano alert was issued on September 6 for a dome building eruption. No ash release occurred. There was no effect on Troj an.
Security reported twe persons set off the fence alarm on the north perimeter on Septenber 26.
Columbia County Sheriff's Department dispatched deputies to apprehend but found no sign of intruders.
Security barrier was not penetrated.
A lightning strike to the south main transformer occurred on September 28, causing damage to one cooling fan, which was repaired.
Work continued throughout the month on the Technical Support Center with partial installation of the 12-kV power supply.

On September 30, an unplanned release of 11.5 curies noble gas occurred due to an 0-ring leak on the Wasta Gas Compressor Moisture Separator.
The 0--ring was replaced.
