Dear Mr. Engelken:
This letter is in response to IE Bulletin 81-02, Supplement 1, which concerns the failure of certain gate type valves to close against differential pressure. This bulletin requested each plant to ascertain whether any Westinghouse-EMD motor operated gate valves have been installed or are maintained as spares. None of the subject valves have been installed in safety-related systems or maintained as spares at Humboldt Bay Power Plant Unit No. 3.
