Dear Mr. Gregory:

This letter refers to a shipment of radioactive waste material sent to the commercial low level waste 'isposal site operated by US Ecology at Richland, Washington.

Your shipment #81-01 was sent on July 28, 1981 and received on August 4, 1981.

Inspections revealed the following violations of US Ecology License Conditions and U.S. Department of Trans-portation Regulations.

49 CFR 172.200 Because of the nature of the violations found in this shipment, authori-zation to use the Richland, Washington, commercial low-level waste burial site by the University of Rochester has been suspended indefinitely.

Shipm:nts in transit prior to 11:27 a.m., Pacific daylight time, August 5, 1981 will be admitted to the site. Further shipments will be refused pending reinstatemeJit of site usa.

If you wish to reapply for a site use permit, you must respond in writing to: Radiation Control Program, DSHS M/S LD-11, Olympia, Washington 98504.
