Dear Sir:

Reference (b) transmitted, among other th$,ngs, the req sirement and schedule for providing training to mitigate core damage.

Reference (c) provided Maine Yankee's schedule for completion of subject i

training in accordance with the guidance provided in reference (b). The i

schedule called for having a training program available by January 1,1981;

(

implemented by April 1, 1981; and cegleted for specified management and i

technical personnel by October 1, 1981.

The schedule for having the program s

available by January 1, 1981 and implemented by April 1, 1981 was confirmed by

>,g order forwarded by reference (d).

Maine Yankee's program was available January -1,1981 and implemented by April 1, 1981 as scheduled. Due tn the early ar.d extended refueling outage and preparation for the recent Emergency Plan Exercise, about five designated l

individuals have not yet completed the training.

i Maine Yankee intends to complete the training for these persans by November 15, 1981.
