Dear Mr. Audin:
This is in response to your letter dated June 15, 1981, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, additional documents related to category b) of your initial letter dated April 19, 1981, in which you sought I&E reports which detailed inspections of casks at reactor sites.
This will confirm a telephone conference call on July 7 with Ms. Nina Toms of my staff, Mr. Al Grella and Ms. Wilda Mullinix, of the Office of Inspection and Enforcement.
l Mr. Grella suggested to you that a telephone call to Mr. Charles Mac Donald, Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, would serve to answer the additional questions you have regarding inspections of spent fuel casks. Mr. Grella also suggested that you contact the owners of the casks directly for this additional information in lieu of another extensive search by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) which would end up being very costly to you.
You were also invited by Mr. Grella to visit our Public Document Room, which is located in Washington, DC to actually review these inspection reports.
You agreed that all of these suggestions were very helpful and you would. proceed along those lines.
As agreed in the conversation, we are enclosing a list of module numbers which reference the areas of concern you have regarding spent fuel casks. A computer printout of inspections involving fuel is enclosed.
The information was generated by using the spent fuel module numbers and requesting a small amount of written text for each report.
This information may be useful to you.
