REQUEST F00 ASSISTANCE IN REVIEWING.EENERAL ELECTRIC VALLECITOS'(GE VNC) PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO LICENSE NO. SNM-960 CONCERNING CRITICALITY SAFETY REQUIRuiENTS We request assistance from your staff in the review of GE VNC's proposed license amendnent to License No. SNH-960 concerning criticality safety requirtments.
I GE has requested ar. exemption to 10 CFR 70.24(a) which requires the use of criticality alarms in areas where SNM is handled, used. or stored. GE would like to exc'ude some areas from this requ)rement because of the small quantities of SNM involved in some of their setivities. Associated with this amendment are criteria which would be used to determine if an exemption to the criticality alarm requirement is appropriate. Your staff's review and evaluation of this criteria and other related elements of this amendment is requested.
