50-306 DPR-60 Revised Schedule for Completion of Initial Training to Mitigate Core Damage (NUREG-0737, Item II.B.4)
In our letter dated December 30, 1980 Northern States Power Company stated that training to mitigate core damage required by NUREG-0737, Item II.B.4, would be initiated at Prairie Island by April 1, 1981 and completed by October 1, 1981.
The purpose of this letter is to provide revised information related to our schedule for completing this training.
The training program was initiated by April 1, 1981 as required by NUREG-0737, Item II.B.4.
We have found, however, that it is impractical to complete the initial training program by October 1, 1981 as originally planned. There are two reasons for this change in schedule; a.
Manning for a sixth shift of operrr3rs has not yet been completed.
Planned flexibility in scheduling af training has not been achieved for this reason.
b.
By experience, we have found that summer vacations preclude effec-tive scheduling of requalification training for shift personnel.
Training schedules for shift personnel are suspended during the summer months.
l Training has been completed for all non-shift personnel ( e.g. supervisors, i
engineers, and shift technical advisors). Our revised schedule for shift personnel now provides for completion of initial training by December 1,1981.
