The fuel, which had been loaded during the 1980 scheduled refueling outage, is of the new P8x8R design, consisting of approximately 64 P8DR3282 assemblies and 120 PSDR3265 assemblies.

The station is presently licensed to store 2320 spent fuel assemblies.
The actual spent fuel storage capacity is 1770 fuel assemblies at present.

Summary of Operations for JULY 1981

On July 1, the unit was off line for "A" Recirculation Pump Seal replacement and Main Transformer repairs. On July 6 at 0155 hours0.00179 days <br />0.0431 hours <br />2.562831e-4 weeks <br />5.89775e-5 months <br /> the reactor was taken critical and unit heat-up commenced. At approximately 0900 hrs. July 6, the station was informed of engineering concerns with the assuraace of continued availability of the SBGTS under accident conditions.
The unit was taken suberitical and placed in the cold shutdown condition until concerns with the SBGTS were re, solved.
On July 8 the reactor was taken critical at 0319 hours0.00369 days <br />0.0886 hours <br />5.274471e-4 weeks <br />1.213795e-4 months <br /> and the unit was syn-chronized to the system at 1120 hours0.013 days <br />0.311 hours <br />0.00185 weeks <br />4.2616e-4 months <br /> an July 8.
The unit rer.ched 100% at al,-
proximately 1200 hours0.0139 days <br />0.333 hours <br />0.00198 weeks <br />4.566e-4 months <br /> on July 10 and at 1306 hours0.0151 days <br />0.363 hours <br />0.00216 weeks <br />4.96933e-4 months <br /> the reactor was manually scrammed because of excessive drywell unidentified leakage. Leakage was identi-fied as failure of "A" Recirculation Pump seal which was replaced.
The reactor was taken critical at 1507 hours0.0174 days <br />0.419 hours <br />0.00249 weeks <br />5.734135e-4 months <br /> on July 12 and synchronized to the system at 0644 hours0.00745 days <br />0.179 hours <br />0.00106 weeks <br />2.45042e-4 months <br /> on July 13.
The unit reached 100% at 0800 hours0.00926 days <br />0.222 hours <br />0.00132 weeks <br />3.044e-4 months <br /> on July 15 and continued at this level until July 30.
On July 30 the unit was shutdown at 2338 hours0.0271 days <br />0.649 hours <br />0.00387 weeks <br />8.89609e-4 months <br /> because of unidentified leakage which was identified as packing on the "A" Recirculation Pump discharge valve.
The uu tt remained shutdown for the remainder of the month.
