Operating License No. DPR-50 NOQ Docket No. 50-289 Appendix R to 10 CFR 50 Exemption Based on a discussion between C. W. Smyth (GPUN) and D. Dilanni (NRC) on July 30, 1981, and our submittal of March 19, 1981 (LIL 077), an exemption from the requirements of Section III. G of 10 CFR 50 Appendix R is hereby requested. The basis for the exemption is that Appendix R imposes additional requirements that were not addressed in the original Fire llazerds Analysis Report (FHAR) which was prepared in accordance with the requirements of SPCSB, BTP 95-1 (8/23/76) and SRP 9.5-1 Rev. 1.
The design criteria for modifications necessary to remove noncompliances of Aprendix R and our schedule for engineering and installation for the identified modifications will be submitted prior to December 15, 1981.
Until such time as the new FHAR is assembled and the noncompliances are I
remaved via modification, the existing approved FHAR, as supplemented, will be used as the licensing basis document.
