Dear Mr. Grier:
This is our second interim report regarding certain deficiencies in Limitorque valve motor operators supplied for use at Limerick Generating Station. Previous information was forwarded to you via the references.
The inspection of a sample of 46 Limitorque motor operators is now complete and the inspection data sheets have been submitted to the engineering organizations of both PECO and Bechtel. Analysis of the data is not yet finished, but preliminary indications are that a significant number of the operators have at least one of the deficiencies previously identified in Interim Report No. 1.
These deficiencies include:
limit switch rotors with cracks or misdrilled pin holes and the use of non-qualified terminal blocks. An additioul problem was noted during the latter part of the inspection. On SMB000 operators the torque swit stationary contact screws broke and contact finger anchor screws stripped when tightened. This occurred at less than the required tightening torque.

Mr. Boyce H. Grier Upon completion of our analysis of the inspection data, we will formulate a program which will include a 100% inspection of the safety related Limitorque motor operators at Limerick. Deficiencies found during the inspection will be resolved.
We will submit a further report on this subject by September 30, 1981.
Sincerely, fC[
