AMENDMENT APPLICATION N1, POSSESSION OF SEALED PLUTONIUM NEUTRON SOURCES With reference to activities authorized by SNM-1097 at the l
General Electric Wilmington Manufacturing Department, GE hereby requests authorization to receive, possess, store and use an additional 13 grams of plutonium in the form of sealed neutron sources.
This will raise our possession limit from 7 grams to 20 grams.
These sources will be used initially for development work in association with a device that will measure SNM in material such as waste or scrap in containers.
Once developed, the measuring desice will be used in a routine production-oriented capacity.
"nese sources will be handled in accordance with the existing radiological procedures and subj ect to the applicable leak testing, inventorying and control.
This request applies to the GE current license SNM-1097 and to the license renewal application submitted to the NRC on 5/27/81.
PursuP't to 10 CFR 170.31, enclosed is a check for $150 for processing this amendment request.
